Business Spotlight: Celebrating Entrepreneurship
FAU Tech Runway’s 2020 Maverick Reception Goes Virtual
You’re invited to join a virtual celebration – the fifth annual Maverick Reception, to honor six years of innovation and launching of the next generation of global entrepreneurs.
Hosted by FAU’s Tech Runway, the virtual event is 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19.
“Migrating the entire event to a virtual platform has required great creativity, flexibility and effort,” said Rhys. L. Williams, managing director of corporate investment at FAU. “The 2020 edition of Maverick Reception has already exceeded all expectations. Inspiring speakers, award recipients with amazing stories and record-level charitable support all make this year’s Maverick Reception a ‘must-attend’ event. This year’s keynote speaker and award recipient is not only a hugely successful serial entrepreneur, but a driving force in the development of South Florida’s technology ecosystem.”
The keynote speaker and honoree for this year’s Maverick Reception is Maurice R. Ferré, MD, CEO and chairman of Insightec, an innovator of incisionless surgery. Ferré brings more than 20 years of experience as a serial entrepreneur in the medical technology industry. Prior to Insightec, Ferré served as CEO and co-founder of Mako Surgical Corporation, a transformational robotic surgery company which was acquired by Stryker Corporation for $1.65 billion in 2013.
The 2020 event will honor Lock it Plates founders Johny Delvar, Jerry Desamours, and Christopher Mundy as the Maverick Venture of the Year, Maria Hernandez as the Maverick Mentor of the Year, and Don Kiselewski as the Maverick Aviator Award recipient.
